The Director of the Holy See Press Office, Matteo Bruni, states that:
"The medical staff informs that the post-operative recovery of Pope Francis continues to be regular.
All drips have already been suspended in recent days and the Holy Father is receiving a semi-liquid diet. He is apyretic and haemodynamically stable.
Post-operative blood tests and chest X-ray are good.
The Holy Father is undergoing a careful convalescence that aims at minimal strain on the abdominal wall, to allow the implanted prosthetic mesh and muscle fascia repair to heal optimally.
Following the instructions of the medical staff and personal health assistant, and as can be deduced from the normal post-operative course in operations of this kind, Pope Francis will recite the Angelus prayer tomorrow in private, uniting himself spiritually, with affection and gratitude, to the faithful who wish to accompany him, wherever they may be".
