The Director of the Holy See Press Office, Matteo Bruni, states that:

The medical staff responsible for the post-operative care of the Pontiff report that Pope Francis spent a quiet night and was able to rest for a long period; he is in good overall condition, alert, and breathing spontaneously.

The routine examinations are good. He will remain in the necessary post-operative rest for the entire day.

The Pope is informed of the messages of proximity and affection received in recent hours, and expresses his gratitude, while asking for continued prayers for him.
