The Director of the Holy See Press Office, Matteo Bruni, has stated:

“This afternoon His Holiness Pope Francis, after pausing in prayer in the chapel of his private apartment, received the Eucharist.

Then, as previously reported, he paid a visit to the paediatric oncology and child neurosurgery ward, and baptized the baby Miguel Angel.

On this occasion, addressing the healthcare personnel present, he dedicated a thought to those who contribute to alleviating the physical ailments and the sufferings of those who, on a daily basis, are required to bear witness to Christ’s cross, and he expressed his gratitude for their self-sacrifice and spirit of service.

At the end of the visit he returned to his ward.

The medical team attending to His Holiness Pope Francis, after evaluating the outcome of the tests carried out today and the positive clinical course, has confirmed that the Holy Father will be discharged from A. Gemelli Hospital tomorrow.”
