Appointment of auxiliary bishop of São Miguel Paulista, Brazil

The Holy Father has appointed the Reverend Sílvio Pereira Castro, of the clergy of the diocese of São Miguel Paulista, Brazil, until now rector of the diocesan seminary, as auxiliary bishop of the same diocese, assigning him the titular see of Mauriana.

Curriculum vitae

Msgr. Sílvio Pereira Castro was born on 4 February 1968 in Cianorte, diocese of Umuarama, in the State of Paraná. He studied philosophy at the Faculdades Associadas Ipiranga in São Paulo-SP, and theology at the Pontificia Faculdade de Teologia Nossa Senhora da Assunção in São Paulo-SP.

He received priestly ordination on 18 February 2006, and was incardinated into the diocese of São Miguel Paulista.

He has held the following offices: vicar of the Cathedral of São Miguel Arcanjo (2006-2013); rector of the preparatory seminary (2006); rector of the Nossa Senhora da Penha Archdiocesan Theological Seminary in São Paulo-SP (2007-2009); diocesan bursar (2012-2025); director of the Virgem do Pilar Diocesan School; rector of the São Miguel Paulista Diocesan Seminary (since 2010); parish vicar and head of the São Benedito Pastoral Area (since 2013); member of the College of Consultors, the Presbyteral Council, the Council of Orders and Ministries, and the Formation Équipe.
