The Holy Father has appointed Bishop Brendan John Cahill, hitherto bishop of Victoria in Texas, as bishop of the diocese of Joliet in Illinois, United States of America.
Curriculum vitae
Bishop Brendan John Cahill was born on 28 November 1963 in Coral Gables, Florida, in the archdiocese of Miami. He was awarded a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a Master of Divinity from the University of Saint Thomas in Houston, in collaboration with Saint Mary’s Seminary. He then obtained a master’s degree in Afro-American studies from Xavier University, New Orleans, and a licentiate in dogmatic theology from the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome.
He was ordained a priest on 19 May 1990, and incardinated into the archdiocese of Galveston-Houston.
He has held the following offices: parish vicar of the parish of Saint Frances Cabrini in Houston (1990-1992) and of Christ the Good Shepherd in Spring (1992-1994); faculty member (1998-2001) and rector (2001-2010) of Saint Mary’s Seminary in Houston; archdiocesan director of the Secretariat for Clergy Formation and Chaplaincy Services (2010-2014); vicar for the clergy (2014-2015); chair of the Priest Personnel Board and member of the Presbyteral Council.
He was appointed bishop of Victoria in Texas, United States of America, on 23 April 2015, receiving episcopal consecration on 29 June of the same year.

The Holy Father, confirming the election by the General Chapter of the Olivetan Benedictine Congregation, has appointed the Reverend Dom Antonio Bran Tecun, a monk of the Territorial Abbey of Monte Oliveto Maggiore, Italy, as ordinary abbot of the same Abbey.
Curriculum vitae
The Reverend Dom Antonio Bran Tecun was born on 25 June 1973 in Villa Canales, Guatemala. He gave his provisional vows on 8 December 1995, and his solemn profession on 21 March 2000 in the Abbey of Monte Oliveto Maggiore.
He carried out his studies in philosophy and theology at the Pontifical Pius XII Archiepiscopal Seminary in Siena. In 2002 he was assigned to the Conventual Priory of San Bernardo Tolomei in Guatemala.
He was ordained a priest on 8 June 2002 in Guatemala.
He holds a degree in mathematics and physics, and has held the roles of teacher of mathematics and physics at the Olivetan College, and director of the farm at the Monastery of Monte Oliveto Maggiore.
