The Holy Father has appointed Bishop Michael A. Saporito as bishop of the diocese of Metuchen, United States of America, transferring him from the titular see of Luperciana and the office of auxiliary of Newark.
Curriculum vitae
Bishop Michael A. Saporito was born on 3 May 1962 in Newark, in the archdiocese of the same name. He was awarded a bachelor’s degree in accounting at Rutgers University, New Brunswick. After several years of work he entered the seminary, carrying out his ecclesiastical studies at the Immaculate Conception Seminary School of Theology in South Orange.
He was ordained a priest on 30 May 1992 in the archdiocese of Newark.
He has held the following offices: parish vicar of the parishes of Saint Joseph in West Oraange (1992-1994), Saint Peter the Apostle in River Edge (1994-1999), Our Lady of Visitation in Paramus (1999-2001) and Saint Elizabeth in Wyckoff (2001-2004); parish priest of Saint Joseph in Maplewood (2004-2011) and Saint Helen in Westfield (20l1-2010).
On 27 February 2020 he was appointed titular bishop of Luperciana and auxiliary of Newark, receiving episcopal ordination the following 30 June.

The Holy Father has appointed Bishop Alfonso Raimo as bishop of the diocese of Terni-Narni-Amelia, Italy, transferring him from the titular see of Termini Imerese and the office of auxiliary of the metropolitan archdiocese of Salerno-Campagna-Acerno.
Curriculum vitae
Bishop Alfonso Raimo was born on 2 July in Calabritto, in the province of Avellino, in the present-day diocese of Sant’Angelo dei Lombardi-Conza-Nusco-Bisaccia. After initiating his formation to the priesthood, he was awarded a bachelor’s degree in theology at the San Luigi section of the Pontifical Theological Faculty of Southern Italy, and then a licentiate in mission theology at the Pontifical Urbaniana University.
He was ordained a priest on 18 March 1990.
He has held the following offices: parish vicar (1990-1998) and parish priest (1998-2011) of the parish of S.S. Martino e Quirico in Fisciano; regional representative for missionary pastoral ministry of the Episcopal Conference of the Campania region (2001-2012), lecturer in mission theology at the Theological Institute of Salerno and the Higher Institute of Religious Sciences in Salerno (since 2007); parish priest of S. Maria del Carmine e S. Eustachio in S. Francesco in Eboli (2011-2015); chaplain of the I.C.A.T.T. Penitentiary in Eboli (2011-2019); national secretary of the Pontifical Missionary Union (PUM) and the Society of Saint Peter the Apostle (POSPA) of the Pontifical Mission Societies (2012-2015); parish priest of S. Bartolomeo Apostolo in Eboli (since 2015); vice director of the diocesan missionary office (2016-2020); vicar general and member of the Council for Economic Affairs of the S. Matteo Diocesan Museum (since 2020); member of the College of Consultors and the diocesan Pastoral Council for the five-year term 2021-2026.
He was appointed titular bishop of Termini Imerese and auxiliary of the metropolitan archdiocese of Salerno-Campagna-Acerno on 30 April 2024, receiving episcopal ordination on 1 June of the same year.
Within the Episcopal Conference of the Campania region, he is bishop delegate for the protection of minors.
