Video Message of the Holy Father

Dear young people of the Prelature of Chota and Cutervo. It gives me immense joy to address all of you, gathered here in the beautiful land of Cutervo to celebrate this Second Diocesan Youth Day. How wonderful it is to know that you have come together from the 18 parishes of the Prelature to share your faith in Jesus Christ.

Dear young people, you are the youth of Christ, and this year’s motto expresses it perfectly: “Called to love, sent to serve”.

Jesus does not want young people settled into their armchairs, lulled to sleep or content with the comfort of “that’s how it’s always been done”. The Church in Chota and Cutervo needs your holy rebelliousness, your pure energy, and your desire to transform situations of suffering into spaces of hope. Feel the call to be missionaries in your schools, your universities, on your streets and in your fields. Serve with joy, especially the most forgotten, for that is where the suffering face of Jesus is found.

I commend you to the Virgin Mary, Our Lady of the Assumption, Patroness of Cutervo. May she watch over you and guide you always.
