As part of the traditional exchange of Delegations on the respective feast days of the Holy Patrons - 29 June in Rome for the Solemnity of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul, and 30 November in Istanbul for the Feast of Saint Andrew the Apostle - a Delegation of the Ecumenical Patriarchate visited Rome from 27 June to 1 July 2026.

The Delegation was led by Metropolitan Emmanuel of Chalcedon, President of the Ecumenical Patriarchate’s Synodal Commission for Relations with the Catholic Church. Metropolitan Emmanuel was accompanied by the Very Reverend Father Aetios and the Reverend Patriarchal Deacon Anatolios.

On Monday, 29 June, the Delegation of the Patriarchate attended the Solemn Eucharistic Celebration presided over by Pope Leo XIV. On Tuesday, 30 June, it was received in audience by the Holy Father and subsequently held talks with the Dicastery for Promoting Christian Unity.
