The Holy Father has accepted the resignation from the pastoral governance of the Diocese of Bangassou (Central African Republic) submitted by Juan José Aguirre Muñoz M.C.C.J. He is succeeded by Aurelio Gazzera, who has until now served as Coadjutor Bishop of the same Diocese.

Resignation and Appointment of the Bishop of Ponce (Puerto Rico)

The Holy Father has accepted the resignation from the pastoral governance of the Diocese of Ponce (Puerto Rico) submitted by Rubén Antonio González Medina, C.M.F.

The Holy Father has appointed Geraldo Ramírez Torres, of the clergy of the same Diocese, until now Vicar General and Parish Priest of the Cathedral, as Bishop of the Diocese of Ponce (Puerto Rico).

Curriculum Vitae

H.E. Geraldo Ramírez Torres was born on 17 November 1967 in Villalba. After entering the diocesan seminary of Ponce, he obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Theology from the Pontifical Catholic University of Puerto Rico.

He was ordained a priest for the Diocese of Ponce on 19 November 1991.

He has held the following offices: Parochial Vicar of San José (1991–1994) and San Joaquín (1994); Diocesan Consultant for Catholic Youth (1994–1998); Parish Administrator of San Antonio Abad (1995) and San Martín de Porres (1995–1996); Parish Priest of San Martín de Porres (1995), San Antonio Abad (1995–2000), and Inmaculado Corazón de María (2000–2004); Parochial Vicar of La Resurrección (2004–2010); Parish Priest of Nuestra Señora de la Divina Providencia (2010–2019) and Nuestra Señora de la Monserrate (2019–2024); Spiritual Director of the Cursillos de Cristiandad movement (since 2006); Prison Chaplain (since 2007); Member of the Presbyteral Council and the College of Consultors (since 2019); Since 2021, Vicar General; and since 2024, Parish Priest of the Cathedral of Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe and Nuestra Señora de la Merced.

Appointment of the Coadjutor Bishop of Rzeszów (Poland)

The Holy Father has appointed as Coadjutor Bishop of Rzeszów (Poland) H.E. Msgr. Krzysztof Chudzio, until now Auxiliary Bishop of the Metropolitan Archdiocese of Przemyśl of the Latins.

Curriculum vitae

Msgr. Krzysztof Chudzio was born on 25 June 1963 in Przemyśl. After attending the Major Seminary of Przemyśl of the Latins, he was ordained a priest on 14 June 1988 for the same Metropolitan Archdiocese.

He has held the following positions: parochial vicar of St. Adalbert in Krosno (1988–1989); secretary to the diocesan bishop, chancellor of the diocesan curia, and organizer of works in the curia of the Diocese of Kamyanets-Podilskyi of the Latins (1989–2005); director of the Archdiocesan Museum in Przemyśl (2005–2006); spiritual father of the Major Seminary and lecturer at the Theological Institute of Przemyśl (2006–2015); pastor of Jasienica Rosielna and honorary canon of the cathedral chapter of Przemyśl (2015–2020).

He was appointed Titular Bishop of Marazane and Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Przemyśl of the Latins on 3 April 2020.

Within the Polish Episcopal Conference, he is President of the Aid Group for the Church in the East and President of the Charity Commission. He is also President of the Supervisory Board of Caritas Polska and a member of the Council for Family Affairs.

Appointment of Auxiliary Bishop of Ranchi (India)

The Holy Father has appointed as Auxiliary Bishop of the Metropolitan Archdiocese of Ranchi (India) the Rev. Anand David Xalxo, until now Vicar General and Parish Priest of the Cathedral of the same Archdiocese, assigning him the titular see of Tinisa of Numidia.

Msgr. Anand David Xalxo was born on 20 November 1975 in Mandar, in the Metropolitan Archdiocese of Ranchi. After attending the St. John Vianney Minor Seminary in Kolkata, St. Albert’s College, and St. Xavier College in Ranchi, he studied Theology at St. Albert’s College in Ranchi.

He was ordained a priest on 15 May 2006 for the same Metropolitan Archdiocese.

He has held the following roles and undertaken further studies: personal secretary to Cardinal Telesphore Toppo (2006–2009); postgraduate studies in Management in Hospital Administration at Muller’s Hospital, Mangalore (2009–2011); Associate Director of the CBCI Society for Medical Education, North India (2011–2015); President of the Council of Diocesan Priests of India of the then BIJHAN Region (2011–2015); member of the Board of Administration of the CBCI–Lieven’s Hospital Project, Mandar (2011–2020); Secretary to the Secretary General of CBCI, Delhi (2015–2017); Public Relations Officer (2017–2020); Administrator of the Archdiocesan Residence of Ranchi (2019–2020); Parish Priest and Assistant Vicar of St. Mary’s Cathedral, Ranchi (from 2020); Director of the Social Development Center of Ranchi (from 2021); Director of Seminarians in Ranchi (2022–2026); and Vicar General of Ranchi (from 2024).

Appointment of Auxiliary Bishop of Hamburg (Germany)

The Holy Father has appointed as Auxiliary Bishop of the Metropolitan Archdiocese of Hamburg (Germany) the Rev. Johannes Zehe, of the clergy of the same Archdiocese, until now Rector of the Seminary, assigning him the titular see of Acque Sirensi.

Curriculum Vitae

H.E. Msgr. Johannes Zehe was born on 28 October 1963 in Neustrelitz, in what was then the German Democratic Republic. Before beginning his theological studies, he completed an academic education in music in Berlin.

He was ordained a priest on 15 May 1999 in Hamburg.

He has held the following offices: parochial vicar in the communities of Ahrensburg, Bargteheide, and Neubrandenburg; director of youth pastoral ministry; parish priest in Neubrandenburg, simultaneously dean of the respective deanery, and in Lübeck; rector of the Archdiocesan Seminary of Hamburg (since 2023) and parish priest of St. Elisabeth in the Bergedorf district.
