This afternoon, Wednesday, 29 April 2026, His Holiness Pope Leo XIV spoke by telephone with His Excellency Mr António Costa, President of the European Council.

During the cordial conversation, they discussed the situation in the Middle East, with particular attention given to the West Bank in the State of Palestine and the situation of Christians in southern Lebanon.

Later in the conversation, the Holy Father shared some reflections on his recent Apostolic Journey to Africa, emphasizing the importance of interreligious dialogue, the promotion of peace and support for the continent’s most disadvantaged communities.
