Resignation and appointment of bishop of Santísimo Salvador de Bayamo y Manzanillo, Cuba
The Holy Father has accepted the resignation from the pastoral care of the diocese of Santísimo Salvador de Bayamo y Manzanillo, Cuba, presented by Bishop Álvaro Julio Beyra Luarca.
The Holy Father has appointed the Reverend Osmany Massó Cuesta, of the clergy of the metropolitan archdiocese of Santiago de Cuba, until now vicar general and parish priest of San Antonio María Claret in Santiago de Cuba, as bishop of Santísimo Salvador de Bayamo y Manzanillo, Cuba.
Curriculum vitae
Msgr. Osmany Massó Cuesta was born on 18 December 1976 in Santiago de Cuba. He carried out his studies in philosophy at the Seminario de San Carlos y San Ambrosio in Havana, and in theology at the Instituto Teológico Salesiano “Cristo Resucitado” in Tlaquepaque, Guadalajara, Messico.
He was ordained a priest of the Salesian Society of Saint John Bosco on 25 July 2005 and was incardinated in the metropolitan archdiocese of Santiago de Cuba in 2015.
He has held the following offices: parish vicar in Camagüey (2005-2007); parish priest of San Juan Bosco in La Víbora (2007-2009); head of Youth Pastoral Care (2007-2009); parish priest of Cristo del buen viaje in Havana (2009-2012) and of the parish De la Caridad, diocesan shrine Camagüey; parish priest of Cristo Rey in Santiago de Cuba (2015-2021), and spiritual director of the San Basilio Magno Major Seminary (2016-2017). Since 2021 he has served as parish priest of San Antonio María Claret in Santiago de Cuba and, since 2022, vicar general of the metropolitan archdiocese of Santiago de Cuba.
Appointment of applied judge of Vatican City State Tribunal
The Holy Father has appointed Professor Ulisse Corea, attorney, associate professor of civil procedural law at the University of Rome “Tor Vergata”, as applied judge of Vatican City State Tribunal.
