Resignation and appointment of bishop of Los Teques, Venezuela

The Holy Father has accepted the resignation from the pastoral care of the diocese of Los Teques, Venezuela, presented by Bishop Freddy Jesús Fuenmayor Suárez.

The Holy Father has appointed the Reverend Alberto Valentín Castilio García, of the clergy of the diocese of La Guaira, until now vicar general, as bishop of the diocese of Los Teques, Venezuela.

Curriculum vitae

Msgr. Castillo García was born on 29 September 1969 in La Guaira. He carried out his studies at the major seminary of the diocese of La Guaira, and received priestly ordination on 15 August 1995.

He has held the following offices: parish vicar, diocesan bursar, parish priest of various communities, chaplain of the Municipal Police, vice rector of the Seminary, and diocesan administrator of La Guaira. He is currently parish priest of Saint Francis of Assisi, vicar general for pastoral care, and coordinator of the diocesan Commission for the Prevention of Abuse.
