Appointment of auxiliary bishop of Kisumu, Kenya
The Holy Father has appointed the Reverend Vicent Ouma Odundo, until now vicar general of the metropolitan archdiocese of Kisumu, Kenya, as auxiliary bishop of the same archdiocese, assigning him the titular see of Giru Marcelli.
Curriculum vitae
Msgr. Vicent Ouma Odundo was born on 1 June 1978 in Kisumu. He studied philosophy at the national seminary of Mabanga and theology at Saint Thomas Aquinas Major Seminary in Nairobi.
He was ordained a priest on 20 February 2008.
After ordination, he held the offices of parish vicar at Saint Theresa’s Cathedral in Kisumu (2008-2009), administrator of the parish of Saint Augustine in Nyamonye (2009-2012), and parish priest of Holy Cross in Siaya (2012-2013). He was awarded a licentiate in canon law at the Pontifical Urbaniana University of Rome and a doctorate at the Pontifical Lateran University in Rome, and went on to serve as administrator of the parish of Saint Andrew in Bondo (2018-2019), promoter of justice of the Interdiocesan Tribunal of Kisumu (2018-2020), chancellor and judicial vicar of the archdiocese (2019-2023) and, to date, vicar general of the metropolitan archdiocese of Kisumu.
