Appointment of auxiliary bishop of the metropolitan archdiocese of Belo Horizonte, Brazil

The Holy Father has appointed the Reverend Evandro Campos Maria, of the clergy of Belo Horizonte, Brazil, until now rector of the Seminário Arquidiocesano Coração Eucarístico de Jesus, as auxiliary bishop of the same archdiocese, assigning him the titular see of Cilibia.

Curriculum vitae

Msgr. Evandro Campos Maria was born on 25 April 1974 in Belo Horizonte, in the archdiocese of the same name, in the State of Minas Gerais. After studying philosophy and theology at the Pontifícia Universidade Católica de Minas Gerais in Belo Horizonte-MG, he was awarded a licentiate in fundamental theology at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome.

He was ordained a priest on 27 April 2002 for the metropolitan archdiocese of Belo Horizonte.

He has held the following offices: collaborator in the parish of Nossa Senhora de Nazareth in Caeté-MG (2003-2025), parish vicar of Nossa Senhora do Pilar in Nova Lima-MG (2007-2012), of Santíssima Trindade in Belo Horizonte-MG (2012-2013), and of São João Batista in Belo Horizonte-MG (2016-2017), coordinator of the theology course at the Pontifícia Universidade Católica de Minas Gerais (2011-2016), coordinator of the School for the Permanent Diaconate (2011-2016), director of the Instituto de Filosofia e Teologia Dom João Resende Costa (since 2017); professor of theology (since 2017), assistant for Pastoral Planning and Formation of the Convivium Emaús House (since 2018), and to date, rector of the Seminário Arquidiocesano Coração Eucarístico de Jesus (since 2018).
