The Holy Father has accepted the resignation from the pastoral care of the diocese of Neyyattinkara, India, presented by Bishop Vincent Samuel. He is succeeded by Bishop Selvarajan Dasan, hitherto coadjutor bishop of the same diocese.

The Holy Father has appointed Bishop Carlos Tomás Morel Diplán as coadjutor archbishop of the metropolitan archdiocese of Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, transferring him from the diocese of La Vega.

Curriculum vitae

Archbishop-elect Carlos Tomás Morel Diplán was born on 2 November 1969 in Monte de la Jagua, Moca, province of Espaillat.

He was ordained a priest on 24 June 2000 for the metropolitan archdiocese of Santiago de los Caballeros.

He has held the following offices: seminary rector, vice rector and professor; coordinator of vocational pastoral care; parish vicar and administrator; collaborator with various bodies of the diocesan Curia; and professor and director of the School of the Permanent Diaconate in Santiago de los Caballeros.

On 14 December 2016 he was appointed titular bishop of Capo della Foresta and auxiliary of the metropolitan archdiocese of Santiago de los Caballeros, receiving episcopal ordination on 25 February 2017.

On 2 December 2023 he was appointed apostolic administrator of the diocese of La Vega and, on 18 October 2024, bishop of the same diocese.
