Credential Letters of the Ambassador of Honduras to the Holy See, 09.10.2025

This morning, in the Vatican Apostolic Palace, the Holy Father Leo XIV received in audience Her Excellency Ms. Gilliam Noemi Gómez Guifarro, ambassador of Honduras to the Holy See, on the occasion of the presentation of her credential letters.

The following is a brief biography of the new ambassador:

Ambassador of Honduras to the Holy See

Her Excellency Ms. Gilliam Noemi Gómez Guifarro was born on 30 March 1972 in Tegucigalpa.

She graduated in architecture from the National Autonomous University of Honduras – UNAH (1993), ad was awarded a master’s degree in “Bio-ecological Architecture and Sustainable Technologies for the Environment” from La Sapienza University, Rome, in 1996. She carried out postgraduate research in architecture and development at Lund University, Lund, Sweden (2000) and holds a diploma in “Development and International Cooperation” from the Institute for International Policy Studies – ISPI, Milan (2014).

She has held the following offices, among others: lecturer in the Faculty of Civil Engineering, Catholic University of Honduras (2000-2004), First Secretary, Embassy in Sweden (2008-2009), Minister Advisor, Embassy in Sweden (2010-2012), Minister Advisor, Embassy in Italy (2012-2014), First Secretary, Permanent Mission and Specialized Institutions in Geneva (2014-2016),  Minister, Holy See Embassy, Republic of San Marino and the Sovereign Military Order of Malta (since 2016), interim chargé d’affaires, Holy See Embassy, Republic of San Marino and the Sovereign Military Order of Malta (January to November 2023 and January 2025).

In addition, she has designed various architectural works in Honduras, Vatican City and Rome (2009-2025).
