Resignation and appointment of bishop prelate of the Mission de France o Pontigny, France

The Holy Father has accepted the resignation from the office of prelate of the territorial prelature of Mission de France o Pontigny, France, presented by Bishop Hervé Giraud.

The Holy Father has appointed Bishop Dominique Blanchet of Créteil, France, as bishop prelate of the territorial prelature of Mission de France o Pontigny, France.

Curriculum vitae

Bishop Dominique Blanchet was born on 15 February 1966 in Cholet, department of Maine-et-Loire, in the diocese of Angers. He carried out his higher studies at the École Centrale de Paris, obtaining a diploma in mathematics and the title of engineer. He entered the seminary of Angers, and after experience with the Oblates of Mary Immaculate, he continued his studies at the Prado Seminary, where he obtained a diploma in theology.

He received priestly ordination on 27 June 1999 for the diocese of Angers. He is a member of the Prado Institute.

He has held the following offices: cooperator of the parish of Doué-la-Fontaine (1999-2005) and of Martigné-Briand (2000-2006), episcopal delegate for youth pastoral care (2004-2010), in solidum priest of Chemillé, Saint-Lézin and Gardes (since 2005), vicar general of Angers (since 2006), diocesan administrator of Angers (since 2008), and moderator of the episcopal Curia of Angers (since 2009). In 2011 he was appointed administrator of the parish of Chalonnes-sur-Loire and parish priest of Saint-Lazare-Saint-Nicolas in Angers (2013-2015).

On 21 May 2015 he was appointed bishop of Belfort-Montbéliard, receiving episcopal consecration the following 12 July. On 9 January 2021 he was appointed bishop of the diocese of Créteil.

 

Resignation and appointment of bishop of Lleida, Spain

The Holy Father has accepted the resignation from the pastoral care of the diocese of Lleida, Spain, presented by Bishop Salvador Giménez Valls.

The Holy Father has appointed the Reverend Daniel Palau Valero, until now head of the department of systematic theology of the Faculty of Theologgy of the Ateneu Universitari Sant Pacià, Barcelona.

Curriculum vitae

Msgr. Daniel Palau Valero was born on 7 December 1972 in Barcelona. He studied at the Seminari Conciliar de Barcelona and was ordained a priest in the metropolitan archdiocese of Barcelona in 2003.

After ordination, he first provided parish service at Sant Antoni Abat in Vilanova i la Geltrú and served as parish vicar (2003-2008). He was awarded a doctorate in systematic theology in Rome (2013) and went on to hold the offices of parish priest of Santa Maria i Sant Brici de la Palma in Cervelló (2013-2015) and, at the same time, of Santa Maria in Corbera de Llobregat, and subsequently of Sant Antoni Abat in Corbera de Llobregat (since 2013). He graduated in geography and history, specializing in art history, at the Universitat de Barcelona (1995), and obtained a degree in philosophy at the Universitat Ramon Llull (2006) and in dogmatic theology at the Faculty of Theology of Catalonia (2006).

He obtained the title of doctor in dogmatic theology from the Pontifical Gregorian University of Rome (2013).

In addition, he studied music at the Conservatori Superior de Música del Liceu of Barcelona. He was recently appointed director of the Archbishop Josep Pont i Got Cathedra of Pastoral Theology and director of the journal.

In addition, he was head of the Department of Systematic Theology of the FTC-AUSP (2019-2023) and board member of the Liturgical Pastoral Centre of Barcelona (since 2020).

He was appointed vice dean and dean (2025) of the Faculty of Theology (2023), a role he holds jointly with the function of Academic Pro-Rector of the Ateneu Universitari Sant Pacià (since 2024).
