Support for the earthquake in Myanmar

Following the earthquake that has struck Myanmar with extraordinary violence, killing, injuring and displacing thousands and causing extensive material damage, the Holy Father, through the Dicastery for Promoting Integral Human Development and the Dicastery for the Service of Charity (Apostolic Almoner), has decided to send a generous contribution in aid of the populations in the emergency phase.

The contribution is intended to express the Pontiff’s closeness to the brothers and sisters of Myanmar, and is in addition to the substantial aid that is arriving from Churches around the world, also through religious congregations and Catholic organizations.

The donations are accompanied by constant remembrance in prayer and invocation of the Virgin Mary, Mother of the Church, especially at this time, approaching Easter of the Resurrection.
