“Seeds of Peace and Hope”

Theme of World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation 2025

The Holy Father has chosen as the theme of World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation this year:

“Seeds of Peace and Hope”.

The Season of Creation is an ecumenical initiative that is becoming customary and takes place from 1 September to 4 October. The theme for the 2025 edition, a Jubilee year and the tenth anniversary of the publication of the Encyclical Laudato si', is “peace with creation”, and Isaiah 32:14-18 has been chosen as the Biblical reference text for this initiative. As emphasized in the Magisterium of Pope Francis and his recent predecessors, there is a close link between peace and care for creation (cf. Messages for the 1990 and 2010 World Day of Peace). Similarly, the connection between war and violence on the one hand, and degradation of the common home and waste of resources (destruction and armaments) on the other, is very close.

The Message urges prayer for the creation of the conditions for peace, a lasting and jointly built peace that inspires hope. The metaphor of the seed indicates the need for long-term commitment. Good practices and seeds of peace and hope from different continents are illustrated in the message.
