Appointment of metropolitan archbishop of Cumaná, Venezuela
The Holy Father has appointed Bishop Ángel Francisco Caraballo Fermín of Cabimas, Venezuela, as metropolitan archbishop of Cumaná, Venezuela.
Curriculum vitae
Archbishop-elect Caraballo Fermín was born in Puerto Ordaz, diocese of Ciudad Guayana, on 30 May 1965. He carried out his studies in philosophy in the seminary of Barquisimeto, and in theology at the Bidasoa International Ecclesiastical College in Spain, obtaining a bachelor’s degree in theology at the Universidad de Navarra.
He was ordained a priest on 7 December 1991 and incardinated in the diocese of Ciudad Guayana.
After ordination, he was awarded a licentiate and postgraduate qualification in canon law and the family at the Pontifical University of the Holy Cross in Rome, and served as parish priest, professor of the major seminary of the diocese of Ciudad Guayana, chancellor of the Curia, and vicar general of the diocese.
On 30 November 2012 he was elected auxiliary bishop of Maracaibo, receiving episcopal consecration on 16 February 2013.
On 29 January 2019 he was appointed bishop of the diocese of Cabimas.

The Holy Father has appointed the Reverend Ángel Román Idígoras, of the clergy of the diocese of Alcalá de Henares, until now episcopal vicar of the “Zona Centro”, as bishop of the diocese of Albacete, Spain.
Curriculum vitae
Msgr. Ángel Román Idígoras was born in Madrid on 30 June 1968. He was awarded a degree in magisterium at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid, in theology at the Universidad Eclesiástica San Dámaso in Madrid, and in sociology at the Universidad Pontificia de Salamanca.
He was ordained a priest on 24 April 1994 for the diocese of Alcalá de Henares.
He has held the following offices: parish vicar of San Diego in Alacalá de Henares (1994), attaché in the parish of Nuestra Señora del Templo in San Fernando de Henares (2002), director of the Statistics and Sociology Office of the diocese of Alacalá de Henares (2002), deputy secretary of the Pastoral Visit (2004), parish priest of Nuestra Señora del Rosario in Torrejón de Ardoz (2005), archpriest of Torrejón de Ardoz (2006), member of the Presbyteral Council and director of the Catholic Action movement in the diocese of Alacalá de Henares, member of the College of Consultors (2007), chaplain of the “Madrid VII” Penitentiary Centre in Estremera de Tajo (2021), member of the Presbyteral Council (2023), episcopal vicar of the “Zona Centro” Vicariate (2024) and member of the diocesan Council for Economic Affairs (2024).
