Today, the Holy Father Francis received in audience Her Excellency Ms. Myriam Spiteri Debono, President of the Republic of Malta, who subsequently met with His Excellency Archbishop Paul Richard Gallagher, Secretary for Relations with States and International Organizations.

During the cordial discussions, which took place at the Secretariat of State, appreciation was expressed for the sound bilateral relations between the Holy See and Malta, reaffirming the commitment to further strengthen cooperation in areas of common interest.

In the course of the conversation, several topics of international relevance were addressed, with particular attention to the situation in the Mediterranean region, the conflicts in Israel and Palestine, the crisis in Ukraine, and the challenges related to migration.
