The Holy Father has appointed the Reverend Franck Javary, of the clergy of the diocese of Nanterre, until now parish priest of Bagneux, as bishop of Châlons, France.
Curriculum vitae
Msgr. Franck Javary was born on 31 January 1967 in Boulogne-Billancourt, in the department of Hauts-de-Seine, Île-de-France. He graduated in engineering from the Ecole Polytechnique in Paris and, after entering the Séminaire des Carmes in Paris for his studies in philosophy and theology, in 2000 he was awarded a licentiate in biblical theology from the Institut Catholique de Paris.
He has held the following offices: lecturer in sacred scripture at the Saint-Sulpice Seminary in
Issy-les-Moulineaux, vicar of Immaculée-Conception in Boulogne-Billancourt and head of youth pastoral care, parish priest of Saint-Bruno, Saint-Etienne and Sainte-Lucie in Issy-les-Moulineaux, parish priest of Sainte-Geneviève Cathedral in Nanterre and member of the College of Consultors, member of the Council for Economic Affairs of Nanterre, parish priest of Bagneux, and member of the episcopal council of Nanterre.
Appointment of bishop of La Guaira, Venezuela
The Holy Father has appointed Bishop Pablo Modesto González Pérez, S.D.B., as bishop of the diocese of La Guaira, Venezuela, transferring him from the diocese of Guasdualito.
Curriculum vitae
Bishop Pablo Modesto González Pérez, S.D.B., was born on 30 June 1959 in San Antonio de los Altos, diocese of Los Teques, Venezuela. He was awarded a bachelor of science in Venezuela, a bachelor’s degree in philosophy from the Salesian Pontifical University of Rome, a licentiate in education from the Universidad Nacional Experimental Simón Rodríguez in Caracas and a licentiate in pastoral theology from the Universidad Pontificia de Salamanca, Spain.
He gave his perpetual vows on 3 September 1983 and was ordained a priest on 26 July 1986.
He has held the following offices: parish vicar and bursar of San Francisco de Sales in Caracas (1986-1995), parish priest and local superior of San Juan Bosco in Valencia-Venezuela (1995-2002), provincial counsellor (2000-2006), parish priest and local superior of San Francisco de Sales in Caracas (2002-2005), parish priest and local superior of San Juan Bosco in Los Teques (2005-2008), and director of the Don Bosco Agricultural Centre in El Molinete in the archdiocese of Maracaibo (2010-2015).
On 3 December 2015 he was elected first bishop of Guasdualito, receiving episcopal ordination on 6 February 2016.
The prelate is a member of the Permanent Commission of the Episcopal Conference, as well as chair of the Episcopal Commission for Culture and Cultural Heritage.
