Resignation and appointment of vicar apostolic of Vientiane, Laos
The Holy Father has accepted the resignation from the pastoral care of the apostolic vicariate of Vientiane, Laos, presented by His Eminence Cardinal Louis-Marie Ling Mangkhanekhoun, I.V.D.
The Holy Father has appointed the Reverend Anthony Adoun Hongsaphong, of the clergy of the apostolic vicariate of Paksé, until now professor of the National Major Seminary in Thakeh and pastoral head of the eleven missionary stations of the apostolic vicariate of Paksé, as vicar apostolic of Vientiane, Laos.
Curriculum vitae
Msgr. Anthony Adoun Hongsaphong was born on 4 April 1964 in Paksé, in the apostolic vicariate of Paksé. He studied philosophy and theology at the Saint Charles Boromée Major Seminary, and was awarded a degree from the Université de Fribourg in Switzerland.
He was ordained a priest on 3 September 1994 for the clergy of the apostolic vicariate of Paksé.
He holds a licentiate in canon law from the Pontifical University of Saint Thomas Aquinas – Angelicum in Rome (1994-1996).
He has held the following offices: parish vicar of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Ubon Ratchathani, Thailand (1997-1999), judge of the ecclesiastical tribunal of the archdiocese of Tharé-Nonseng, Thailand (1997-2005), parish priest of Holy Family in Ban Nongkhu, Thailand (1999-2005), rector of the Pastor Bonus preparatory seminary in Paksé, Laos (2005-2014), parish priest of the Cathedral and head of the twelve Catholic communities of the apostolic vicariate of Paksé (2005-2014), professor of canon and sacramentary law, ecumenism, and introduction to Sacred Scripture at the National Major Seminary of Thakeh (since 2005), and pastoral head of the eleven missionary stations of the apostolic vicariate of Paksé (since 2014).
