Appointment of auxiliary bishop of the Patriarchal diocese of Jerusalem of the Latins for Jordan

The Holy Father has appointed the Reverend Iyad Twal, of the clergy of the Patriarchal diocese of Jerusalem of the Latins for Jordan, as auxiliary bishop of the same diocese, assigning him the titular see of Siminina.

Curriculum vitae

Msgr. Iyad Twal was born on 15 July 1973 in Amman, Jordan. He completed his studies in theology and philosophy at the Pontifical Lateran University in Rome, and was ordained a priest on 9 July 1998.

He has held the following offices: parish vicar (1998-1999) and parish priest (2000-2005) of the Immaculate Conception in Birzeit; director of the School of the Latin Patriarchate in Birzeit and educator at the Patriarchal Minor Seminary (2003-2005); parish priest of the Visitation in Zababdeh and director of the School of the Latin Patriarchate of the same city (2005-2006); professor of philosophy and head of religious studies at Bethlehem University (2013-2016); member of the Court of Appeal of the Ecclesiastical Tribunal of Jerusalem (2016-2017); director general of Schools of the Latin Patriarchate in Israel and Palestine (2016-2017); and director of the Department of Humanities and Religious Studies at Bethlehem University (2019-2020), of which he is currently the executive vice-president.
