On Monday 9 December 2024 at 12.00, a press conference will be held in the Holy See Press Office, Via della Conciliazione 54, to present the initiative “Tejiendo futuros, protegiendo vidas”, promoted by the Latin American Episcopal Council (CELAM) and the “Plataforma de Paz, Democracia y Derechos Humanos”, to give visibility to human and environmental rights defenders of Latin America and the Caribbean.

The speakers will be:

- His Eminence Cardinal Michael Czerny, S.J., prefect of the Dicastery for Promoting Integral Human Development;

- Archbishop Jaime Spengler, O.F.M., of Porto Alegre, Brazil, president of CELAM, president of the NCBB;

- Archbishop Fernando Natalio Chomalí Garib of Santiago de Chile, Chile;

- Archbishop Carlos Gustavo Castillo Mattasoglio of Lima, Peru;

- Dr. Emilce Cuda, secretary of the Pontifical Commission for Latin America.
