The Holy Father has appointed the Reverend Thomas D’Souza, of the clergy of Vasai, India, until now parish priest of Holy Spirit in Nandakhal, as bishop of the same diocese of Vasai.
Curriculum vitae
Msgr. Thomas D’Souza was born on 23 March 1970 in Chulne, in the diocese of Vasai. He studied philosophy and theology at Saint Pius X College in Goregaon, and was ordained a priest on 18 April 1998 for the diocese of Vasai. He was awarded a master’s degree in philosophy and religion from Madras University in Chennai, India.
He has held the following offices: deputy parish priest of Holy Spirit in Nandakhal (1998-2002), rector of the minor seminary in Remedy (2000-2001, 2005-2007), parish priest of Divine Mercy in Bhiwandi (2003-2005), parish priest of Saint James in Agashi (2007-2013), and rector of the Shrine of Our Lady of Remedies in Remedy (2013-2019). Since 2019 he has been parish priest of Holy Spirit and head of Saint Joseph High School and Junior College in Nandakhal.
Appointment of bishop of Bagdogra, India
The Holy Father has appointed Bishop Paul Simick as bishop of the diocese of Bagdogra, India, transferring him from the apostolic vicariate of Nepal and the titular see of Maturba.
Curriculum vitae
Bishop Paul Simick was born on 7 August 1963 in Gitdubling in the diocese of Darjeeling, and was awarded a doctorate in biblical theology from the Pontifical Urbaniana University in Rome.
He was ordained a priest on 9 April 1992 for the diocese of Darjeeling.
He has held the following offices: hostel prefect of the Namchi Public School in Sikkim (1992-1993), parish priest of Saint Maurice in Suruk (1993-1995), teacher of sacred scripture at Morning Star College (2000-2006), parish priest of Christ the King in Pakyong (2006-2007), dean of the East Sikkim Deanery and bursar of Saint Xavier’s School in Pakyong (2007-2011), and parish priest of the Immaculate Conception Cathedral in Darjeeling (2011-2014).
He was appointed titular bishop of Maturba and vicar apostolic of Nepal on 25 April 2014, and received episcopal consecration on 29 June 2014.

The Holy Father has appointed the Reverend Ambrose Pitchaimuthu, of the clergy of Chingleput, until now national director of the Pontifical Mission Societies in India, as bishop of the diocese of Vellore, India.

Msgr. Ambrose Pitchaimuthu was born on 3 May 1966 in Cheyyur in Tamil Nadu. He studied philosophy and theology at Sacred Heart Seminary in Chennai, and was awarded a licentiate in philosophy from the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven in Belgium and a doctorate in philosophy from the Pontifical University of Saint Thomas Aquinas in Rome.
He was ordained a priest on 25 March 1993 for the metropolitan archdiocese of Madras and Mylapore, and in 2002, he was incardinated in the new diocese of Chingleput.
He has held the following offices: deputy parish priest of the Santhome Cathedral in Chennai (1993-1994), deputy parish priest of Saint Francis Xavier in Pallavaram (1994-1995), professor and vice rector of Sacred Heart Seminary in Chennai (2001-2008), member of the College of Consultors of Chingleput and the Council for Formation (2002-2017), vicar general of Chingleput (2008-2015), parish priest of Saint Joseph’s Cathedral in Chingleput (2008-2013), vicar forane of the Saint Joseph Deanery in Chingleput (2009-2012), parish priest of Sacred Heart in Oragadam Village (2013-2015), parish priest of Saint Mary Help of Christians in Padappai and superintendent of Catholic Schools (2015-2017), parish priest of Saint Francis Xavier in Pallavaram (2017-2018). The Holy Father has appointed the Reverend Anthony Das Pilli, until now professor of dogmatic theology and formator at Saint John’s Regional Seminary in Hyderabad.

Msgr. Anthony Das Pilli was born on 24 August 1973 in Donakonda. After attending Saint John’s Minor Seminary in Nellore, he studied philosophy at Saint John’s Regional Seminary in Visakhapatnam and theology at Saint John’s Regional Seminary in Nellore.
He was ordained a priest on 24 April 2000 for the diocese of Nellore.
After ordination, he held the roles of vice secretary to the bishop of Nellore (2000-2002), parish vicar of Komarole (2002-2003), parish priest of Gudlur (2004-2007), and parish priest of Chinthareddypalem (2007-2008). He was awarded a licentiate and doctorate in dogmatic theology from the Pontifical Urbaniana University in Rome (2008-2014), and went on to serve as rector of Saint John’s Minor Seminary in Nellore and parish priest of Sunnapubatti (2014-2016). Since 2017 he has been professor of dogmatic theology and formator at Saint John’s Regional Seminary in Hyderabad.
Appointment of the preacher of the Papal Household
The Holy Father has appointed the Reverend Fr. Roberto Pasolini, O.F.M. Cap., lecturer in biblical exegesis at the Pontifical Theological Faculty of Northern Italy in Milan, as preacher of the Papal Household.
Curriculum vitae
Fr. Pasolini was born on 5 November 1971 in Milan, Italy. He gave his perpetual vows in the Franciscan Order of Friars Minor Capuchin on 7 September 2002, and was ordained a priest on 23 September 2006. After obtaining a doctorate in biblical theology from the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome, he served as lecturer in biblical languages and sacred scripture at the Laurentianum Interprovincial Theological Studium of the Friars Minor Capuchin in Milan and Venice.
He currently teaches biblical exegesis at the Pontifical Theological Faculty of Northern Italy in Milan, and collaborates with the archdiocese of Milan in the formation of religion teachers and with the Italian Conference of Major Superiors. Author of several articles and books on biblical spirituality, he is dedicated to preaching at retreats and in the spiritual exercises.
