Appointment of bishop of Holy Protection of Mary Byzantine Catholic eparchy of Phoenix, U.S.A.

The Holy Father has appointed the Reverend Artur Bubneyvch, of the clergy of Holy Protection of Mary Byzantine Catholic eparchy of Phoenix, United States of America, until now parish priest of the Our Lady of Perpetual Help parish in Albuquerque, New Mexico, as bishop of the same eparchy.

Curriculum vitae

Msgr. Artur Bubneyvch was born on 22 June 1975 in Perechin, Zakarpattia, in Ukraine, and entered the Greek-Catholic seminary of the eparchy of Mukachavo in Uzhgorod. From 1996 to 2001 he studied theology at the International Theological Institute for Studies on Marriage and Family in Gaming, Austria. From 2007 he collaborated with Bishop Milan Šašik, engaged in the formation of young people and teaching the English language.

He transferred to the United States, in the Byzantine eparchy of Holy Protection of Mary of Phoenix, and was ordained a deacon on 9 March 2014. He received priestly ordination the following 14 September. He was appointed parish priest of Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Albuquerque, New Mexico, on 1 December 2014. He is a member of the Eparchial Vocation Board and the board of Intereparchial Youth Adult Commission.

 

Appointment of auxiliary bishops of Melbourne, Australia

The Holy Father has appointed the following as auxiliary bishops of the metropolitan archdiocese of Melbourne, Australia: the Reverend Thinh Xuan Nguyen, of the clergy of the same archdiocese, until now coordinator of the Office for Life and Ministry of the Clergy, assigning him the titular see of Madaurus, and the Reverend Fr. Rene Ramirez, R.C.I., until now parish priest of Saint Mel and Saint Malachy in Shepparton, diocese of Sandhurst, assigning him the titular see of Mauriana.

Curriculum vitae of Msgr. Thinh Xuan Nguyen

Msgr. Thinh Xuan Nguyen was born on 3 January 1973 in Saigon, Vietnam. He carried out his primary studies in Vietnam, and then emigrated to Australia, continuing his studies in Preston, in the metropolitan archdiocese of Melbourne. He was awarded a bachelor’s degree in engineering from Victoria University (1995).

He entered Corpus Christi College (1999) and was ordained a priest on 16 September 2006.

He has held the following offices: parish vicar in Deer Park (2006), administrator and parish priest in Fitzroy (2009 and 2010), formator at Corpus Christi College (2013), chaplain at the University of Melbourne (2018), parish priest in Bennettswood (2020), coordinator of the Office for Life and Ministry of the Clergy (since 2022).

Curriculum vitae of Msgr. Rene Ramirez, R.C.I.

Msgr. Rene Ramirez, R.C.I., was born on 29 March 1969 in Gapan, Philippines. After his primary and secondary studies, he entered the religious institute of the Rogationist Fathers of the Heart of Jesus. He carried out his studies in philosophy at Adamson University in Manila, receiving a bachelor’s degree. He was awarded a master’s degree in educational management from De La Salle University (2003) and a licentiate in spirituality from the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome.

He was ordained a priest on 27 June 1998.

He has held the following offices: administrator, treasurer and vice rector of the seminary of the Rogationist Fathers in Cavite (1998), director of communications and spiritual director of the seminary (2006-2009), superior of the Saint Hannibal Rogate Center (2009-2015), parish priest of Holy Family in Maidstone-Braybrook in the metropolitan archdiocese of Melbourne (2015-2023), and parish priest of Saint Mel and Saint Malachy (since 2023).

 

Appointment of auxiliary bishops of Olinda and Recife, Brazil

The Holy Father has appointed the following as auxiliary bishops of the metropolitan archdiocese of Olinda and Recife, Brazil: the Reverend Josivaldo José Bezerra, of the clergy of the same archdiocese, until now vicar general and parish priest of Santo Antão in Vitória de Santo Antão – PE, assigning him the titular see of Patara, and the Reverend Msgr. Nereudo Freire Henrique, of the clergy of the metropolitan archdiocese of Paraíba, rector of the Nossa Senhora da Penha Shrine in João Pessoa - PB, assigning him the titular see of Mopta.

Curriculum vitae of Msgr. Josivaldo José Bezerra

Msgr. Josivaldo José Bezerra was born on 26 February 1967 in Gravatá, in the diocese of Caruaru, in the State of Pernambuco. He carried out his studies in philosophy and theology at the Institute of Philosophy and Theology of the metropolitan archdiocese of Olinda and Recife.

He was ordained a priest on 20 March 1998, and incardinated in the metropolitan archdiocese of Olinda and Recife.

He has held the following offices: administrator (1998-2010) and then parish priest (2010-2016) of the parish of Santo Antônio in Cabo de Santo Agostinho, parish priest of Nossa Senhora da Apresentação in Escada - PE (2016-2022), episcopal vicar of the vicariate of Cabo (2011), and since 2012, member of the College of Consultors, the Episcopal Council, and the Presbyteral Council.

He is currently vicar general and parish priest of Santo Antão in Vitória de Santo Antão – PE.

 

Curriculum vitae of Msgr. Nereudo Freire Henrique

Msgr. Nereudo Freire Henrique was born on 10 May 1963 in Arcoverde, in the diocese of Pesqueira, in the State of Pernambuco. He was awarded a bachelor’s degree in social sciences from the Pernambuco Catholic University (1988) and completed his studies in philosophy and theology at the archdiocesan seminary of Paraíba – PB (1993-1996). In addition, he carried out postgraduate studies in psychopedagogy, administration, sociology and priestly formation.

He was ordained a priest on 13 December 1996, and incardinated in the metropolitan archdiocese of Paraíba.

He has held the following offices: rector of the preparatory seminary (1996-1997), parish vicar of Cristo Re (1997-2009), formator (1998-2004) and bursar (1998-2001) of the archdiocesan seminary, coordinator of OSIB (Organização dos Seminários e Institutos Filosófico-Teológicos do Brasil) for the Region Nordeste 2 of the National Conference of Bishops of Brazil (1999-2001), member of the College of Consultors (2003-2019) and the Presbyteral Council (2001-2019), bursar of the archdiocese (2002-2019) and parish priest of Cristo Re (2010-2018).

He is currently rector of the Shrine of Nossa Senhora da Penha in João Pessoa - PB (since 2019), and bursar of the National Conference of Bishops of Brazil (since 2014) and of the Pan-Amazonian Ecclesial Network (since 2022).
