Appointment of coadjutor bishop of Oslo, Norway
The Holy Father has appointed the Reverend Msgr. Fredrik Hansen, of the clergy of Oslo, Norway, until now professor at Saint Mary’s Seminary and University in Baltimore, United States of America, as coadjutor bishop of the same diocese.
Curriculum vitae
Msgr. Fredrik Hansen was born on 13 June 1979 in Drammen, in the diocese of Oslo, Norway. After carrying out his studies in philosophy and theology at Allen Hall Seminary in the metropolitan archdiocese of Westminster and Heythrop College, London, on 21 April 2007 he was ordained a priest for the diocese of Oslo.
After ordination, he first served as parish vicar in Lillehammer (2007-2008), secretary to the bishop (2007-2011), prefect (2007-2008) and then vice-rector of Saint Eystein Diocesan Seminary (2008-2011), secretary of the Council of Norwegian Bishops (2009-2011) and ecclesiastical judge at the Tribunal of Oslo (2011-2016). He awarded a doctorate in canon law from the Pontifical Gregorian University, Rome, in 2013.
He was a student of the Pontifical Ecclesiastic Academy, and in 2013 he entered the Holy See diplomatic service, serving at the apostolic nunciature in Honduras (2013-2015), at the Holy See Permanent Mission at the International Organizations in Vienna (2015-2019) and at the Mission of the Holy See Permanent Observer at the United Nations in New York (2019-2022). After completing his service in the pontifical representations, he entered the Society of Priests of Saint-Sulpice, holding the office of professor at Saint Mary’s Seminary and University in Baltimore, United States of America.

The Holy Father has appointed the distinguished Professor Elena Beccalli, rector of the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart in Milan, as consultor of the Dicastery for Culture and Education.
