Appointment of titular archbishop of Urusi

The Holy Father has appointed Msgr. Fabio Biaggio, C.S., under-secretary of the Dicastery for Promoting Integral Human Development, as titular bishop of Urusi, conferring to him the personal title of Archbishop.

 

Appointment of adjunct secretary of the Dicastery for the Laity, Family and Life

The Holy Father has appointed Msgr. Dario Gervasi, until now auxiliary bishop and director of the Office for Family Pastoral Care of the diocese of Rome, as adjunct secretary of the Dicastery for the Laity, Family and Life.

 

Resignation and appointment of bishop of Farafangana, Madagascar

The Holy Father has accepted the resignation from the pastoral care of the diocese of Farafangana, Madagascar, presented by Bishop Gaetano Di Pierro, S.C.I.

The Holy Father has appointed Bishop Marcellin Randriamamonjy of Fenoarivo Atsinanana, as bishop of the diocese of Farafangana, Madagascar.

Curriculum vitae

Bishop Marcellin Randriamamonjy was born on 12 April 1963 in Sandrandahy, diocese of Ambositra.

He was ordained a priest on 30 August 1992, and subsequently exercised his pastoral ministry in two districts of the metropolitan archdiocese of Fianarantsoa.

He obtained a licentiate in theology in Ambatoroka, Antananarivo (1996-1998), and a degree in theology from Lyon, France (1998-2000). He served as an educator, lecturer and prefect of the interdiocesan major seminary in Vohitsoa, Fianarantosoa (2001-2003), and rector of the same seminary (2003-2008).

On 10 February 2009 he was appointed as bishop of the diocese of Fenoarivo Atsinanana, receiving episcopal consecration the following 17 May.

 

Resignation and appointment of bishop of San Cristóbal de Venezuela, Venezuela

The Holy Father has accepted the resignation from the pastoral care of the diocese of San Cristóbal de Venezuela, Venezuela, presented by Bishop Mario del Valle Moronta Rodríguez.

The Holy Father has appointed Bishop Lisandro Alirio Rivas Durán, I.M.C., until now titular of Dardano and auxiliary of the metropolitan archdiocese of Caracas, as bishop of the diocese of San Cristóbal de Venezuela, Venezuela.

Curriculum vitae

Bishop Lisandro Alirio Rivas Durán was born on 17 July 1969 in Boconó, diocese of Trujillo, and was ordained a priest on 19 August 1995.

He has held the following offices: missionary in Kenya (1995-2000), chargé for formation in his Institute in Venezuela, and rector of the philosophical seminary, vice superior and superior of his Congregation, rector of the theological seminary of Bogotá, and since 2014, rector of the Pontifical Saint Paul’s College in Rome.

On 23 December 2021 he was appointed titular bishop of Dardano and auxiliary of the metropolitan archdiocese of Caracas, receiving episcopal ordination the following 12 March.

Within the Venezuelan Episcopal Conference, he is a member of the Commission for Consecrated Life and the Commission for Mission, Indigenism and Afro-Americans.
