Appointment of bishop of Catarman, Philippines

The Holy Father has appointed Bishop Nolly Camingue Buco, until now auxiliary of Antipolo, as bishop of the diocese of Catarman, Philippines.

Curriculum vitae

Bishop Nolly Camingue Buco was born in Baganga, Davao Oriental, on 27 November 1963. He carried out his studies in philosophy at the Sacred Heart Seminary in Palo, Leyte, and in theology at the Immaculate Conception Major Seminary in Guiguinto, Bulacan.

He was ordained a priest on 18 October 1993 for the diocese of Antipolo.

After ordination, he held the offices of parish vicar of Saint Clement in Angono, Rzal (1993-1994), parish vicar of Antipolo Cathedral in Antipolo City (1994-1997), member of the Presbyteral Council (1996), member of the College of Consultors (1997), priest chargé at San Isidro Labrador in Antipolo Hills, Antipolo City, assistant coordinator for the Commission for Catechesis (1998), assistant judicial vicar of the Court of First Instance (2000), parish priest of Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary in Montalban, Rizal (2000-2003), and Defender of the Bond at the Court of First Instance (2001). After receiving a master’s degree in theological studies from the Immaculate Conception Major Seminary in Guiguinto, Bulacan (2002), he was coordinator of the Commission for the Seminary (2003). He was awarded a doctorate in anthropology from the University of the Philippines in Diliman, Quezon City (2003), and went on to serve as bursar (2003) and rector (2003-2005) of the Our Lady of Peace and Good Voyage Seminary in Barangay San Luis, Antipolo City. Following a doctorate in canon law from the Pontifical and Royal University of Santo Tomas (2004), he went on to serve as judicial vicar at the Court of First Instance (2004), parish priest of San Antonio de Padua in San Antonio Village, Antipolo City (2005-2011), and parish priest of San Antonio de Padua in Kalumpang, Marikina City (2011-2016). In 2016 he received a doctorate in juridical sciences from San Beda College, Mendiola, Manila (2016), and held the role of parish priest of Our Lady of Light in Cainta, Rizal 2016-2018).

He was appointed auxiliary bishop of Antipolo and titular of the see of Gemellae in Byzacena on 10 July 2018, and was consecrated on 8 September 2018. Since 8 December 2023 he has served as apostolic administrator of Catarman.

 

Appointment of bishop of La Vega, Dominican Republic

The Holy Father has appointed Bishop Carlos Tomás Morel Diplán as bishop of the diocese of La Vega, Dominican Republic, transferring him from the titular see of Buxentum (Capo della Foresta) and from the office of auxiliary bishop of Santiago de los Caballeros.

Curriculum vitae

Bishop Carlos Tomás Morel Diplán was born on 2 November 1969 in Monte de la Jagua, Moca, province of Espaillat, Dominican Republic.

He was ordained a priest for the metropolitan archdiocese of Santiago de los Caballeros on 24 June 2000.

He has held the following offices: rector, vice rector and professor of the seminary; coordinator of vocational pastoral care; parish priest, vicar and parish administrator; collaborator with various bodies in the diocesan Curia; professor and director of the school of the permanent diaconate.

On 14 December 2016 he was appointed titular bishop of Buxentum (Capo della Foresta) and auxiliary of the metropolitan archdiocese of Santiago de los Caballeros, receiving episcopal ordination on 25 February 2017.

On 2 December 2023 he was appointed as apostolic administrator of the diocese of La Vega.

 

Appointment of auxiliary bishop of the metropolitan archdicoese of Santa Cruz de la Sierra, Bolivia

The Holy Father has appointed Bishop Juan Gómez, titular of Semta, as auxiliary bishop of the metropolitan archdiocese of Santa Cruz de la Sierra, transferring him from the office of auxiliary of the metropolitan archdiocese of Cochabamba.

Curriculum vitae

Bishop Juan Gómez was born on 24 June 1962 in Comarapa, in the archdiocese of Santa Cruz de la Sierra.

On 27 August 1999 he received priestly ordination and was incardinated in the archdiocese of Santa Cruz de la Sierra.

He has held the following offices: parish vicar of Cristo Misionero in Santa Cruz de la Sierra (1999-2000), formator in the San José National Major Seminary in Cochabamba (2000-2002 and 2011-2013), rector of the preparatory seminary in Santa Cruz de la Sierra (2003-2007), rector of the San Lorenzo Major Seminary (2007-2010), member of the College of Consultors (2011-2013), parish priest of the Señor de los Milagros Shrine in Santa Cruz de la Sierra (2014-2015), episcopal vicar of the San Pablo vicariate (2014-2015) and rector of the San Lorenzo Archdiocesan Major Seminary in Santa Cruz de la Sierra (2016-2018).

On 27 December 2018 he was appointed titular bishop of Semta and auxiliary of the archdiocese of Cochabamba.
