The Holy Father has appointed the Reverend Fr. Krzysztof Gierat, C.M.F., official of the Dicastery for the Institutes of Consecrated Life and the Societies of Apostolic Life, as office head in the same Curial institution.

The Holy Father has appointed Bishop Timothy Norton, S.V.D., until now titular of Madauro and auxiliary of the metropolitan archdiocese of Brisbane, as bishop of Broome, Australia.

Curriculum vitae

Bishop Timothy Norton, S.V.D., was born on 24 July 1958 in Sydney.

After his early formation in Mexico City, he was awarded a degree in theology from the Yarra Theological Union in Melbourne.

He entered the Society of the Divine Word, and gave his perpetual vows in 1990. On 2 May 1991 he was ordained a priest.

He has held the following offices: parish vicar in Mexico City (1991-1996), director of the SILOAM Spiritual Programme in Melbourne (1997-1998), head of formation and prefect of scholastics in Melbourne (1998-2000 and 2002-2004), director of the novitiate in Sydney (2001-2002), provincial superior for Australia (2005-2013), head of formation and director of the Ad gentes Centre in Nemi, Italy (2014-2021).

He was appointed titular bishop of Madauro and auxiliary of Brisbane on 11 November 2021, and received episcopal consecration on 22 February 2022.
