Resignation and appointment of bishop of Cubao, Philippines

The Holy Father has accepted the resignation from the pastoral care of the diocese of Cubao, Philippines, presented by Bishop Honesto F. Ongtioco.

The Holy Father has appointed the Reverend Fr. Elias L. Ayuban, C.M.F., until now provincial superior of the Filipino Claretian province, as bishop of Cubao, Philippines.

Curriculum vitae

Msgr. Elias L. Ayuban, C.M.F., was born in Parang, Maguindanao, in the archdiocese of Cotabato, on 1 January 1968. He studied philosophy at Saint Anthony Mary Claret College of Philosophy and theology at Loyola School of Theology, Ateneo de Manila University in Quezon City.

He gave his religious vows on 16 July 1995, and received priestly ordination on 9 March 1996 in Quezon City.

After ordination, he first held the role of parish priest of Risen Christ in Sibugay (1996-2000). He was awarded a doctorate in canon law at the Pontifical Lateran University (2002-2003), and went on to serve as rector of the Claret Theology House in Quezon City (2004-2008), professor of canon law at the University of Santo Tomas and the Institute for Consecrated Life Asia in Quezon City (2004-2011 and 2008-2010), chair of the Commission for the Consecrated Life of the Canon Law Society of the Philippines (2005-2011), local superior (2009-2010), rector of the College Seminary, prefect of formation (2009-2011), house vicar (2011-2018) and member (2012-2019) of the Institutum Iuridicum Claretianum in Rome, member of the Dicastery for the Institutes of Consecrated Life and the Societies of Apostolic Life in Rome (2012-2019), and vicar superior of the Community of Iuridicum in Rome (2013-2019). Since 2019 he has been provincial superior of the Filipino Claretian Province.

 

Resignation and appointment of bishop of Pereira, Colombia

The Holy Father has accepted the resignation from the pastoral care of the diocese of Pereira, Colombia, presented by Bishop Rigoberto Corredor Bermúdez.

The Holy Father has appointed Bishop Nelson Jair Cardona Ramírez as bishop of the diocese of Pereira, Colombia, transferring him from the diocese of San José del Guaviare.

Curriculum vitae

Bishop Nelson Jair Cardona Ramírez was born on 18 January 1969 in Norcasia. He carried out his priestly studies at the major seminary of Manizales. He obtained a licentiate in spiritual theology from the Pontifical Gregorian University of Rome, and a doctorate in theology from the Pastoral Theological Institute for Latin America (ITEPAL).

He was ordained a priest on 12 December 1992, and incardinated in the diocese of La Dorada-Guaduas.

He has held the following offices: diocesan delegate for youth and vocational pastoral care, parish priest of San Antonio de Padua in La Paz, professor and formator in the Cristo Buen Pastor Major Seminary in Puerto Salgar, parish administrator of Santísima Trinidad in Puerto Salgar, parish priest of San Antonio de Padua in Manazares, diocesan delegate for ordained ministers, and professor at ITEPAL.

He was appointed bishop of San José del Guaviare on 7 May 2016, and received episcopal consecration the following 18 June. On 23 April 2022 he was appointed apostolic administrator of Villavicencio.

 

Appointment of bishop prelate of Ayaviri, Peru

The Holy Father has appointed the Reverend Fr. Benigno Condori Chuchi, O.F.M., until now parish priest of San Antonio de Padua in Puno, as bishop prelate of Ayaviri, Peru.

Curriculum vitae

Bishop Benigno Condori Chuchi was born on 22 March 1971 in Cucero, Peru. He entered the Franciscan Order of Friars Minor in the province of the Twelve Holy Apostles, Peru. He studied philosophy at the Facultad de Teología Pontificia y Civil de Lima and theology at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, obtaining a licentiate in religious sciences. He gave his solemn vows on 7 March 1997, and was ordained a priest on 9 September 2000.

He has held the following offices: vocational animator of the province of the Twelve Holy Apostles (2000-2002), master and national assistant of the Secular Franciscan Order and of Franciscan youth (2003-2005), guardian of the Convent of San Antonio de Padua and parish priest of Cristo Pobre de La Recoleta in Cuzco (2006-2014), parish priest of Espíritu Santo and bursar of the San Antonio de Padua Convent in Tacna (2015-2017), secretary of the elective Chapter of the province of the Twelve Holy Apostles (2018), definitor and provincial secretary for Evangelization and Mission (2019-2020), and to date, parish priest of San Antonio de Padua in Puno and secretary of the elective Chapter of the province of the Twelve Holy Apostles.
