Resignation and succession of bishop of Grodno, Belarus

The Holy Father has accepted the resignation from the pastoral care of the diocese of Grodno, Belarus, presented by Bishop Aleksander Kaszkiewicz.

He is succeeded by Bishop Uladzmir Huliai, until now bishop coadjutor of the same diocese.

 

Appointment of bishop of Gumaca, Philippines

The Holy Father has appointed the Reverend Fr. Euginius L. Cañete, until now coordinator general of the Missionaries of Jesus, as bishop of Gumaca, Philippines.

Curriculum vitae

Msgr. Euginius L. Cañete was born on 8 July 1966 in Liloan, Cebu.

After carrying out his studies in psychology at the Maryshore Major Seminary and La Salle College in Bacolod City, and in philosophy and theology at Maryhill School of Theology, he was awarded a licentiate in canon law from the Pontifical Gregorian University of Rome.

He received priestly ordination on 18 December 1995.

He has held the following offices: parish priest of Saint Mary Immaculate, Zambia (1996-1999); delegate to the General Chapter (1999); member of the Pastoral Team at Saint Maximilian Kolbe, Zambia (2000); professor at the Institute of Formation and Religious Studies, Quezon City (2004-2005); director of the Postulancy and Aspirancy, MJ Formation Community, Quezon City (2005-2006); professor at the Inter-Congregational Theological Centre, Quezon City (2005-2021); associate of the MJ Noviciate, Antipolo City; member of the Matrimonial Tribunal, diocese of Novaliches; visiting professor at Saint Alphonsus Theological Mission Seminary, Davao City (2006-2007); member of the Matrimonial Tribunal, diocese of Antipolo (2006-2009); secretary general ad interim at MJ Generalate, Antipolo City (2007-2009); counsellor general of MJ, Antipolo City (2009-2015); secretary general of MJ, Antipolo City (2009-2021); rector of the MJ Scholasticate, Antipolo City (2010-2020); professor at the Recollects School of Theology (2011-2020), the Institute of Consecrated Life in Asia/ICLA (2012) and the Maryhill School of Theology, Quezon City (2013); vicar general of MJ, Antipolo City (2015-2021); member of the General Finance Committee of MJ, Antipolo City (2015-2021); and coordinator general of MJ, Antipolo City (2021).

 

Appointment of bishop of Sicuani, Peru

The Holy Father has appointed the Reverend César Augusto Huerta Ramírez, of the clergy of the metropolitan archdiocese of Arequipa, parish priest of Cristo Obrero, as bishop of the diocese of Sicuani, Peru.

Curriculum vitae

Msgr. César Augusto Huerta Ramírez was born on 14 November 1975 I Huaraz-Ancash. After concluding his ecclesiastical studies at the San Jerónimo Major Seminary in Arequipa, he was awarded a licentiate in moral theology from the San Dámaso Ecclesiastical University in Madrid and, subsequently, a master’s degree in bioethics from the University of La Rioja (UNIR), Spain.

He received priestly ordination on 17 November 2005 for the metropolitan university of Arequipa.

After ordination, he was awarded a diploma in social doctrine of the Church from the Universidad Finas Terrae, Chile, and from the Universidad Católica Lumen Gentium, Mexico. He served as parish priest of Beata Sor Ana de los Ángeles and Santa María de la Cabeza (2006-2014), professor at the Archdiocesan School of Catechesis, the Superior School of Religious Education, the School of Young Leaders and the San Jerónimo Major Seminary, Arequipa; professor at the Santa María Catholic University and the San Pablo Catholic University (since 2007); chaplain of the Instituto Superior Pedagógico Público, Arequipa (2008-2013); parish priest of Nuestra Señora del Rosario, Sabandía, and of Santa María, Mollebaya, Arequipa (2017-2021); parish priest of Cristo Obrero, Miraflores, Arequipa (since 2022); vicar forane of Deanery IX (2017-2022); member of the Presbyteral Council (2011-2014, since 2021); episcopal vicar for the Coordinación de la Pastoral Arquidiocesana de Conjunto of the metropolitan archdiocese of Arequipa (since 2023); and director of the Schools of Catechists of the metropolitan archidiocese of Arequipa (2024).
