Appointment of auxiliary bishop of Tijuana, Mexico
The Holy Father has appointed the Reverend Mario Nicolás Villanueva Arellano, of the clergy of the metropolitan archdiocese of Tijuana, Mexico, and episcopal vicar for the clergy, as auxiliary bishop of the same archdiocese, assigning him the titular see of Gegi.
Curriculum vitae
Msgr. Mario Nicolás Villanueva Arellano was born on 19 January 1971 in Pénjamo, diocese of Irapuato. After his studies and work experience in accounting, he was ordained a priest on 12 July 2003 for the metropolitan archdiocese of Tijuana.
He has held the following offices: parish vicar, bursar of the diocesan seminary, chaplain of the Shrine of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart, and spiritual director of the seminary. He is currently episcopal vicar for the clergy and member of the diocesan council for economic affairs.
