Resignation and election of archbishop of Changanacherry, India
The Synod of Bishops of the Major Archepiscopal Syro-Malabar Church, after accepting the resignation from the pastoral care presented by Mar Joseph Perumthottam, has elected Mar Thomas Thayaril, until now auxiliary bishop of Changanacherry, as archbishop of the same archeparchy.
Curriculum vitae
Mar Thomas Tharayil was born in Changanacherry on 2 February 1972, and entered the minor seminary of Kurichy, completing his institutional studies at Saint Thomas Apostolic Seminary in Vadavathoor. He was ordained a priest on 1 January 2000.
He was awarded a licentiate and a doctorate in psychology at the Pontifical Gregorian University of Rome. Besides Malayalam and English, he knows Italian, Spanish and German.
He has served as secretary to Archbishop Joseph Powathil, deputy parish priest of various parishes, professor in various seminaries and institutes, and director of the Danahalaya Institute of Formation.
He was elected auxiliary bishop of Changanacherry on 14 January 2017, receiving episcopal ordination the following 23 April.

The Synod of Bishops of the Major Archepiscopal Syro-Malabar Church has elected Mar Antony Prince Panengaden as bishop of Shamshabad, India, transferring him from the eparchy of Adilabad.
Curriculum vitae
Mar Antony Prince Panengaden was born on 13 May 1976 in Arimpur, in the archeparch of Trichur, and entered the Congregation of Carmelites of Mary Immaculate. After several years of formation, before giving his vows he transferred to the eparchy of Adilabad.
Following completion of his studies in philosophy at the Dharmaram Vidya Kshetram Institute in Bangalore and in theology at the Ruhalaya Major Seminary in Ujjain, he was ordained a priest on 25 April 2007.
He has exercised the ministries of deputy parish priest and parish priest of the Cathedral of Adilabad, parish priest of Saligaon and protosyncellus of the eparchy of Adilabad.
He was awarded a doctorate in biblical theology from the Pontifical Urbaniana University in Rome. Besides Malayalam and English, he speaks Italian, German and Telugu. He knows Greek, Hebrew, Syriac and Latin.
He was appointed bishop of Adilabad on 6 August, and was ordained and enthroned the following 29 October.
