Appointment of archbishop of Sens, France
The Holy Father has appointed Archbishop Pascal Wintzer as archbishop of Sens, France, transferring him from the metropolitan See of Poitiers.
Curriculum vitae
Archbishop Pascal Wintzer was born on 18 December 1959 in Rouen, in the archdiocese of the same name. After attending the seminary of Paray-le-Monial and the Saint-Sulpice Seminary of Issy-les-Moulineaux, he was awarded a licentiate in theology from the Faculty of Theology of the Institut Catholique de Paris.
He was ordained a priest on 27 June 1987 for the archdiocese of Rouen.
He was appointed titular bishop of Rusado and auxiliary of Poitiers on 2 April 2007, and received episcopal consecration the following 19 May. On 13 January 2012 he was appointed metropolitan archbishop of Poitiers. Within the French Episcopal Conference, he is responsible for the Observatory of Faith and Culture.
