Appointment of coadjutor bishop of Urgell, Spain
The Holy Father has appointed the Reverend Josep-Lluís Serrano Pentinat, of the clergy of the diocese of Tortosa, until now nunciature counsellor in service at the Section for General Affairs of the Secretariat of State.
Curriculum vitae
Msgr. Josep-Lluís Serrano Pentinat was born on 19 March 1977 in Tivissa, in the province of Tarragona and the diocese of Tortosa. He carried out his studies in philosophy and theology in the major seminary of Tortosa.
He was ordained a priest on 21 April 2002.
After ordination, he first held the office of parish priest of La Palma d’Ebre, La Bisbal de Falset and Margalef de Montsant (2002-2005), and of Sant Andreu and Sant Pere, in Vandellòs-Hospitalet de l’Infant (2007-2009). He was awarded a licentiate and a doctorate in dogmatic theology from the Pontifical Gregorian University of Rome (2007, 2012), and went on to serve as moderator of the North Coast Pastoral Unit (2008-2009) and teacher at the major seminary (2007-2009). After studying at the Pontifical Ecclesiastical Academy in Rome (2009-2012) and obtaining a licentiate in canon law from the Pontifical Lateran University (2011), he served as nunciature secretary in Mozambique (2012-2016), in Nicaragua (2016-2017) and in Brazil (2017-2019), and since 2019, nunciature counsellor in service at the Section for General Affairs of the Secretariat of State.
