Resignation and appointment of bishop of Surat Thani, Thailand
The Holy Father has accepted the resignation from the pastoral care of the diocese of Surat Thani, Thailand, presented by Bishop Joseph Prathan Sridarunsil.
The Holy Father has appointed the Reverend Paul Trairong Multree, of the clergy of Ratchaburi, until now parish priest of Saint Mark, superior of the Thai Missionary Society and national director of the Pontifical Mission Societies, as bishop of the diocese of Surat Thani, Thailand.
Curriculum vitae
Msgr. Paul Trairong Multree was born on 7 September 1976 in Khon Kaen, Thailand. He studied philosophy at the Lux Mundi Major Seminary in Samphran.
He was ordained a priest on 9 June 2007 for the diocese of Ratchaburi.
After ordination, he first held the roles of parish vicar of Our Lady of Lourdes, Kanchanburi (2007-2008), parish vicar of Saint Michael the Archangel, Ratchaburi (2008-2009), and missionary of the Thai Missionary Society in Cambodia, Phnom-Penh (2009-2014). He was awarded a licentiate in pastoral liturgy from the Institute of Pastoral Liturgy in Padua (2015-2018), and went on to serve as rector of the major seminary of the Thai Missionary Society, Samphran (since 2019), national director of the Pontifical Mission Societies (since 2020), superior of the Thai Missionary Society (since 2023), and parish priest of Saint Mark, Bangkok (since 2024).
