Appointment of metropolitan archbishop of Agaña, Guam
The Holy Father has appointed Bishop Ryan Pagente Jimenez, president of the Episcopal Conference of the Pacific and until now bishop of Chalan Kanoa, Northern Mariana Islands.
Curriculum vitae
Bishop Ryan Pagente Jimenez was born on 18 December 1971 in Dumaguete City, Philippines. After attending the San José Seminary in Quezon, he studied philosophy at Manila University and at Saint Patrick’s Seminary and University in California, obtaining a master’s degree.
He was ordained a priest on 8 December 2003 for the diocese of Chalan Kanoa.
He has held the following offices: parish vicar of Kristo Rai in Garapan, Saipan (2003-2007); special secretary to the bishop (2003-2010); spiritual director of the Cursillo movement (2005-2007), rector of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Cathedral (2007-2008); president of the diocesan Commission for the cultural heritage of the Church (2008-2009); diocesan chancellor (2009-2010); and apostolic administrator of the diocese of Chalan Kanoa (2010-2016).
He was appointed bishop of the diocese of Chalan Kanoa on 24 June 2014, and received episcopal consecration the following 14 August.
Since 2023 he has served as president of the Episcopal Conference of the Pacific.
