Resignation and appointment of metropolitan archbishop of Tulancingo, Mexico

The Holy Father has accepted the resignation from the pastoral care of the metropolitan archdiocese of Tulancingo, Mexico, presented by Bishop Domingo Díaz Martínez.

The Holy Father has appointed Bishop Oscar Roberto Domínguez Couttolenc, M.G., as metropolitan archbishop of Tulancingo, Mexico, transferring him from the diocese of Ecatepec.

Curriculum vitae

Archbishop-elect Oscar Roberto Domínguez Couttolenc, M.G., was born in Puebla on 13 May 1956. He entered the Seminary of the Missionaries of Guadalupe and carried out his studies in philosophy and theology at the Universidad Intercontinental of Mexico. Since 1982 he has been a member of the Institute of Our Lady of Guadalupe for the Foreign Missions.

He was ordained a priest on 11 August 1983.

He was awarded a licentiate in philosophy, a licentiate in theology and a master’s degree in educational administration from the Universidad Intercontinental of Mexico; vocational animator and vicar of María Madre de la Iglesia in Monterrey (1983-1986); missionary in the diocese of Ngong in Kenya (1986-1991); general bursar of the Missionaries of Guadalupe and managing and legal director of the Universidad Intercontinental (1991-2003); and vicar general of the Missionaries of Guadalupe (2003-2007).

On 27 March 2007 he was appointed bishop of Tlapa, receiving episcopal ordination the following 11 June. On 17 July 2012 he was transferred to the diocese of Ecatepec.

Within the Episcopal Conference of Mexico, he has served as bursar general and member of the Office for the Creation of Dioceses and Ecclesiastical Provinces. He is currently a member of the National Council for the Defence of Minors and Vulnerable Persons.

 

Resignation of bishop of Atlacomulco, Mexico

The Holy Father has accepted the resignation from the pastoral care of the diocese of Atlacomulco, Mexico, presented by Bishop Juan Odilón Martínez García.

 

Erection of the diocese of Bentiu, South Sudan, and appointment of the first bishop

The Holy Father has erected the diocese of Bentiu, South Sudan, with territory taken from the diocese of Malakal, making it a suffragan of the metropolitan archdiocese of Juba, and has appointed Bishop Christian Carlassare, M.C.C.J, hitherto of Rumbek, as the first bishop.

Curriculum vitae

Bishop Christian Carlassare, M.C.C.J., was born in Schio, diocese of Vicenza, Italy, on 1 October 1977. He gave his solemn vows in the Institute of Comboni Missionaries in 2003 and was ordained a priest on 4 September 2004.

In 2005, he was sent on a mission to South Sudan, where he held the following offices: deputy parish priest, parish priest, promoter of vocations and director of the orientation course for Comboni Missionaries, member of the Secretariat for Vocations Animation and Basic Formation, provincial counsellor of the Combonians, and vice-provincial of the Comboni Province in South Sudan.

From 2020 to 2021 he was vicar general of the diocese of Malakal.

On 8 March 2021 he was elected bishop of Rumbek and consecrated on 25 March 2022.
