Appointment of military ordinary for El Salvador

The Holy Father has appointed the Reverend Reinaldo Sorto Martínez, of the clergy of the archdiocese of San Salvador, until now vicar general of the same archdiocese and parish priest of Inmaculada Concepción, in Santa Tecla, La Libertad, El Salvador, as bishop military ordinary for El Salvador.

Curriculum vitae

Msgr. Reinaldo Sorto Martínez was born on 10 March 1961 in Zacatecoluca, El Salvador. He carried out his studies in philosophy and theology at the San José de la Montaña Major Seminary, and was ordained a priest on 19 May 1994, incardinated in the archdiocese of San Salvador.

He obtained a licentiate in dogmatic theology in Rome.

He has held the following offices: cooperator vicar of the parish of San José, Quezaltepeque, parish priest of the parish of Lourdes, Colon, and of San José de la Montaña, San Salvador, military chaplain of the National Public Service Academy, in the military ordinariate of El Salvador, and professor of dogmatic theology at the San José de la Montaña Major Seminary. He is currently vicar general, parish priest of Inmaculada Concepción and head of pastoral care of priests in the archdiocese of San Salvador.
