Appointment of metropolitan archbishop of Samoa-Apia, Samoa
The Holy Father has appointed the Reverend Fr. Mosese Vitolio Tui, S.DB., until now parish priest of Saint Paul, Massey, diocese of Auckland, New Zealand, provincial counsellor and delegate for the Pacific of the Salesian Society of Saint John Bosco, as metropolitan archbishop of Samoa-Apia, Samoa.
Curriculum vitae
Msgr. Mosese Vitolio Tui, S.D.B., was born on 9 November 1961 in Apia, Samoa. In 1987 he gave his first religious vows in the Salesian Society of Saint John Bosco, and on 8 December 1992, his perpetual vows.
He was ordained a priest on 3 December 1994, as the first Samoan Salesian.
He has held the following offices: local bursar and teacher in Alafua, Samoa (1995), local counsellor in Oakleigh, Victoria, Australia (1996), local counsellor, director of the school and vicar of the community of Alafua (1997-2006), director and master of novices in Suva, Fiji (2006-2009), provincial counsellor, Australia-Pacific (2009-2015), director, head of the school and parish priest in Salelologa, Samoa (2009-2017), director and parish priest of Saint Paul, Massey, diocese of Auckland, New Zealand (2018-2022), director in Salelologa (2022-2023), and since 2023, parish priest of Saint Paul, provincial counsellor and delegate for the Pacific.
