Resignation and appointment of bishop of Ponta Grossa, Brazil
The Holy Father has accepted the resignation from the pastoral care of the diocese of Ponta Grossa, Brazil, presented by Bishop Sérgio Arthur Braschi.
The Holy Father has appointed Bishop Bruno Elizeu Versari as bishop of the diocese of Ponta Grossa, transferring him from the see of Campo Mourão.
Curriculum vitae
Bishop Bruno Elizeu Versari was born on 30 May 1959 in Cândido Mota, diocese of Assis, in the State of São Paulo, Brazil. He carried out his studies in philosophy at the Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Paraná and in theology at the Instituto Paulo VI in Londrina-PR. He then attended specialization courses in Bible studies at the Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Paraná a Maringá.
On 3 January 1988 he received priestly ordination and was incardinated in the archdiocese of Maringá.
He has held the following offices: deputy parish priest and then parish priest of Santa Maria Goretti in Maringá-PR, assistant of the Nossa Senhora da Glória Major Seminary, parish priest of Santa Isabel de Portugal in Maringá-PR, archdiocesan bursar, member of the Presbyteral Council and the College of Consultors, vicar general (2011-2015), and director of the archdiocesan radio.
On 19 April 2017 he was appointed coadjutor bishop of Campo Mourão, and received episcopal ordination the following 25 June. On 6 December 2017 he became ordinary of the same diocese. Within the National Conference of Bishops of Brazil, he is chair of the episcopal Commission for the Family and Life.
