Resignation of bishop of Ajmer, India

The Holy Father has accepted the resignation from the pastoral care of the diocese of Ajmer, India, presented by Bishop Pius Thomas D’Souza.

 

Appointment of bishop of Huánuco, Peru

The Holy Father has appointed Bishop Pedro Alberto Bustamante López as bishop of the diocese of Huánuco, Peru, transferring him from the diocese of Sicuani.

Curriculum vitae

Bishop Pedro Alberto Bustamante López was born on 9 January 1965 in Cotaparaco, Recuay, in the diocese of Huaraz. He attended the San Jerónimo Archdiocesan Seminary of Arequipa, and was ordained a priest for the same archdiocese on 7 December 1992. He was awarded a licentiate in dogmatic theology from the Pontifical Gregorian University of Rome.

He has held the following offices: parish priest of Nuestra Señora de la Asunción (1998-1999), pro-vicar general (1999-2006), parish priest of Santa Gertrudis (1999-2005), parish priest of San Agustín – El Sagrario (2005-2013), episcopal vicar (2007-2010), and vicar general of the archdiocese (2011-2013). On 10 July 2013 he was elected bishop prelate of Sicuani and received episcopal ordination the following 15 August. On 29 September 2020, the Holy Father erected as a diocese the territorial prelature of Sicuani, and he was appointed first bishop of the See. Since 7 April 2021, he has served as apostolic administrator of the territorial prelature of Ayaviri.

 

Appointment of members of the Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith

The Holy Father has appointed the following as members of the Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith: His Eminence Cardinal José Tolentino de Mendonça, prefect of the Dicastery for Culture and Education; His Eminence Cardinal Marcello Semeraro, prefect of the Dicastery for the Causes of Saints; and Archbishop Bruno Forte of Chieti-Vasto, Italy.
