Appointment of bishop of Wa, Ghana

The Holy Father has appointed the Reverend Fr. Francis Bomansaan, M.Afr., until now deputy superior general of the Missionaries of Africa, as bishop of the diocese of Wa, Ghana.

Curriculum vitae

Msgr. Francis Bomansaan, M.Afr., was born on 19 January 1962 in Kaleo, in the diocese of Wa. He entered the Society of the Missionaries of Africa in 1983, and carried out his religious and priestly formation in various countries. He gave his perpetual vows on 7 December 1990, and was ordained a priest on 27 July 1991.

He holds several diplomas, including those in Ignatian Spirituality, from the Jesuits Centre in Liverpool; in psycho-spirituality and counselling (M.A,) from Chicago; in spiritual counselling skills and community living, from the Saint Anselm Institute in London; and the Religious Formation Ministry Programme, from Loreto House, Dublin.

He has held the following offices: parish priest of the archdiocese of Mbeya, Tanzania (1991-1993), director of vocational animation and formator in Lublin, Poland (1995-1998), vocational director of the Missionaries of Africa in Ghana and first advisor to the provincial superior for Ghana and Nigeria (1999-2003), formator and bursar of Saint Edward College, London (2004-2005), provincial superior of the province of Ghana and Nigeria (2005-2011), master of novices at the International English Speaking Novitiate, Zambia (2012-2019), and head of the Addiction Rehabilitation Centre, Kenya (2021-2022). Since 2022 he has served as deputy superior general of the Missionaries of Africa.

 

Appointment of bishop of Agen, France

The Holy Father has appointed the Reverend Alexandre de Bucy, of the clergy of the diocese of Versailles, until now parish priest of Saint-Gratien and of Enghien-les-Bains, and dean of Enghien-Montmorency, diocese of Pontoise, as bishop of Agen, France.

Curriculum vitae

Msgr. Alexandre de Bucy was born on 11 August 1970 in Neuilly-sur-Seine, diocese of Nanterre. After transferring to the Pontifical French Seminary of Rome, he carried out his studies in philosophy and theology at the Pontifical Gregorian University.

He was ordained a priest on 29 June 1997, and incardinated in the diocese of Versailles.

He was awarded a licentiate in patristic theology from the Pontifical Patristic Institute “Augustinianum” in Rome (1999). He has served as parish vicar of Saint-Jean-Baptiste du Val Fourré  and of Sainte-Anne de Gassicourt in Mantes-la-Jolie (1999-2002), parish priest of Saint-Martin and of Notre-Dame du Val in Sartrouville and chaplain of Jeunesse ouvrière de France (2002-2010), fidei donum priest in Mali, in the diocese of San (2010-2016), parish priest of Saint-Gratien and of Enghien-les-Bains, diocese of Pontoise (since 2016), dean of Enghien-Montmorency (since 2022), and episcopal delegate for the permanent deaconry of Pontoise (since 2023).
