Appointment of coadjutor bishop of Camden, U.S.A.
The Holy Father has appointed Bishop Joseph A. Williams, until now titular of Idassa and auxiliary of Saint Paul and Minneapolis, United States of America, as coadjutor bishop of the diocese of Camden, United States of America.
Curriculum vitae
Bishop Joseph A. Williams was born on 2 May 1974 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, United States of America. He attended the University of Minnesota Morris, obtaining a bachelor’s degree in biology. He carried out his ecclesiastical studies at the Franciscan University of Steubenville and the Saint Paul Seminary, obtaining a Master of Divinity.
He was ordained a priest for the archdiocese of Saint Paul and Minneapolis on 28 May 2002.
He has held the following offices: parish vicar of Saint Paul Cathedral (2002-2004) and of Divine Mercy in Faribault (2004-2005), parish priest of Saint Mathias in Hampton and Saint Mary in New Trier (2005-2008), parish priest of Saint Stephen in Minneapolis (2008-2022), episcopal vicar for Hispanic ministry (2018-2022), administrator of the Holy Rosary in Minneapolis (2020-2022).
He was appointed titular bishop of Idassa and auxiliary of Saint Paul and Minneapolis on 10 December 2021, and received episcopal consecration on 25 January 2022.
