Appointment of bishop of Knoxville, U.S.A.
The Holy Father has appointed the Reverend James Mark Beckman, of the clergy of the diocese of Nashville, until now parish priest of Saint Henry in Nashville, as bishop of Knoxville, United States of America.
Curriculum vitae
Msgr. James Mark Beckman was born on 19 October 1962 in Lawrenceburg, Tennessee, in the diocese of Nashville. He attended Saint Ambrose College in Davenport, Iowa, obtaining a bachelor’s degree in history. He carried out his ecclesiastical studies at the American College in Louvain, Belgium.
He was ordained a priest on 13 July 1990 for the diocese of Nashville.
He has held the following offices: parish vicar of the Holy Rosary parish in Nashville (1990), associate principal of the Father Ryan High School (1991), parish priest of Our Lady of Lourdes in Springfield (1996), director of the diocesan youth office (1996), parish priest of Saint Matthew in Franklin (2002) and Saint Henry in Nashville (since 2021).
