Appointment of bishop of Buta, Democratic Republic of the Congo

The Holy Father has appointed the Reverend Fr. Martin Banga Ayanyaki, O.S.A., until now regional vicar of the Order of Saint Augustine in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, as bishop of the diocese of Buta, Democratic Republic of the Congo.

Curriculum vitae

Msgr. Martin Banga Ayanyaki, O.S.A., was born on 1 December 1972 in Dungu, in the administrative province of Haut-Uélé, Democratic Republic of the Congo. After completing his studies at Saint Augustine’s Philosophate, and in theology at Saint’Eugène de Mazenod University, he gave his solemn profession in Kinshasa on 30 November 2002 and was ordained a priest on 28 August 2003, in Poko, diocese of Dungu—Doruma.

After ordination, he first held the roles of deputy parish priest in Poko, diocese of Doruma-Dungu (2003-2006), advisor of the Vicariate of the Augustinians and parish priest in Poko (2006-2010), regional vicar of the Order of Saint Augustine (2010-2014), and pastoral collaborator at the Convent of Santa Maria del Popolo, Rome (2014-2020). He was awarded a doctorate from the Pontifical Gregorian University of Rome (2014-2020). Since 2022 he has served as regional vicar of the Order of Saint Augustine and professor of sociology and anthropology at the Saint Augustine University of Kinshasa.

 

Appointment of under-secretary of the Dicastery for the Eastern Churches

The Holy Father has appointed the Reverend Magr. Filippo Ciampanelli, until now nunciature counsellor in the Section for General Affairs of the Secretariat of State, as under-secretary of the Dicastery for the Eastern Churches.

Curriculum vitae

Msgr. Ciampanelli was born on 20 July 1978 in Novara, Italy. He received priestly ordination on 21 June 2003, and was incardinated in the diocese of Novara. He was awarded a doctorate in theology from the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome. On 1 July 2009, after attending courses at the Pontifical Ecclesiastical Academy, he entered the Holy See diplomatic service. He has served in the pontifical representations in Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan and Belarus. Since 2015 he has served in the Section for General Affairs of the Secretariat of State.

 

Appointment of applied promotor of justice of Vatican City State

The Holy Father has appointed the distinguished Dr. Giuseppe Deodato, former deputy public prosecutor at the Court of Rome, as applied promoter of justice of Vatican City State.

Curriculum vitae

Dr. Deodato was born on 3 April 1959 in Ionadi, Italy. He graduated in law from the University of Perugia, and was subsequently awarded a master’s degree in economic and financial security sciences from the University of Rome Tor Vergata. After his military career in the Financial Police Corps, he was accepted in the Magistracy, holding the position of deputy public prosecutor first at the Public Prosecutor's Office in Lamezia Terme, and then Civitavecchia, before finally being transferred to Rome.
