Appointment of coadjutor bishop of Grodno, Belarus
The Holy Father has appointed the Reverend Uladzimir Huliai, parish priest in Lida and episcopal vicar for pastoral care for the Lida region, as coadjutor bishop of the diocese of Grodno, Belarus.
Curriculum vitae
Msgr. Uladzimir Huliai was born on 14 June 1975, in Volkovysk, Belarus.
After his formation in the Major Theological Seminary of Grodno (1992-1998), he received priestly ordination on 26 June 1999, and was incardinated in the same diocese.
He specialized in dogmatic theology at the John Paul II Catholic University of Lublin, Poland, receiving his doctorate in 2011.
He has held the following offices: parish vicar of Saint Francis Xavier in Grodno (2000-2001), prefect of the Major Theological Seminary in Grodno (2001-2003), and since 2003, parish priest of Exaltation of the Holy Cross in Lida.
Since November 2006 he has also served as episcopal vicar for pastoral care for the Lida region and, since 2016, canon of the Cathedral Chapter of the diocese of Grodno.
Since September 2001, he has taught dogmatic theology at the Major Theological Seminary of Grodno.
Appointment of auxiliary bishop of La Serena, Chile
The Holy Father has appointed the Reverend Henry Joseph Balzan, of the clergy of Copiapó, vicar general, as auxiliary bishop of La Serena, Chile, assigning him the titular see of La Imperial.
Curriculum vitae
Msgr. Henry Joseph Balzan was born on 1 November 1963 in Malta, and was ordained a priest on 5 June 1991.
He has held the following offices: parish vicar of Msida in Malta (1991-1995); parish priest of Potrerillos and El Divino Salvador, diocese of Copiapó (1995-2006), vicar of the North Valley and vicar for education, Chile, pastoral service in the parish of Zabbar, Malta (2006), parish priest of San Cayetano in Hamrun, Malta (2008), pastoral service in the parish of El Divino Salvador, Chile. In 2019 he was appointed parish priest of Nuestra Señora del Carmen in Chañaral. Since August 2021 he has been vicar general of Copiapó and subsequently also parish priest of San Francisco.
