Resignation and appointment of bishop of Puerto Cabello, Venezuela

The Holy Father has accepted the resignation from the pastoral care of the diocese of Puerto Cabello, Venezuela, presented by Bishop Saúl Figueroa Albornoz.

The Holy Father has appointed the Reverend José Antonio da Conceição Ferreira, of the clergy of the diocese of Los Teques, parish priest and secretary general of the Venezuelan Episcopal Conference, as bishop of the diocese of Puerto Cabello, Venezuela.

Curriculum vitae

Bishop da Conceição Ferreira was born in Caracas on 20 June 1970. He carried out his ecclesiastical studies in the archdiocesan seminary of Caracas.

He was ordained a priest on 25 April 1998, and incardinated in the diocese of Los Teques.

He has held the following offices: assistant and coordinator of the seminarians studying philosophy at the Seminary of Los Teques, parish vicar, assessor of the Encuentros movement for youth promotion, chancellor, episcopal delegate for canonical matters, secretary of the Liturgy Department of the Episcopal Conference, parish priest, and moderator of the Curia. Since 11 June he has served as secretary general of the Venezuelan Episcopal Conference.

 

Resignation and appointment of auxiliary bishop of Würzburg, Germany

The Holy Father has accepted the resignation from the office of auxiliary of the diocese of Würzburg, Germany, presented by Bishop Ulrich Boom.

The Holy Father has appointed the Reverend Paul Reder, of the clergy of Wüzrburg, Germany, until now parish priest in solidum of the Schweinfurter Mainbogen zone, as auxiliary of the same diocese, assigning him the titular episcopal see of Pedena.

Curriculum vitae

Msgr. Paul Reder was born in Würzburg on 20 August 1971.

He carried out his philosophical and theological studies at the Faculty of Theology of the University of Würzburg.

He was ordained a priest on 7 June 2014, and incardinated in the clergy of Würzburg.

He has held the following offices: deputy parish priest in Oberleichtersbach-Schondra and Bad Kissingen (2024-2017); parish vicar in Fladungen-Nordheim and Mellrichstadt (2017-2020), as well as in Bastheim (since 2018); he subsequently served as parish priest of Heiligkreuz und St. Elisabeth and St. Burkard – St. Bruno in Würzburg.

In 2022 he was appointed parish priest in solidum in the Schweinfurter Mainbogen pastoral zone.

 

Appointment of coadjutor bishop of Pekhon, Myanmar

The Holy Father has appointed the Reverend Felice Ba Htoo of the clergy of the diocese of Pekhon, Myanmar, until now diocesan chancellor, parish priest of the Mother of God parish in Mobye and diocesan director of the Missionary Society of the Holy Childhood, as coadjutor bishop of the same diocese of Pekhon.

Curriculum vitae

Msgr. Felice Ba Htoo was born on 27 April 1963 in Sonbalan, diocese of Pekhon. He studied philosophy and theology at Saint Joseph’s Catholic Major Seminary in Yangon and was ordained a priest on 4 April 1991, for the clergy of the diocese of Pekhon. He subsequently continued his studies in Rome, obtaining a licentiate and a doctorate in spiritual theology.

He has held the following offices: assistant parish priest in Hwarikhy (1991-1993) and in Mobye (1995-1997), rector of Saint Theresa’s Intermediate Seminary in Taunggyi (1997-2000), rector of Saint Michael’s Major Seminary in Pekhon (2008-2011), spiritual director and professor at Saint Joseph’s Major Seminary in Yangon (2011-2019), secretary to the bishop of Pekhon (2019-2021), and visiting professor at the Loikaw-Taunggyi Major Seminary (2022). Since 2022 he has served as diocesan director of the Missionary Society of the Holy Childhood.
